| ABOUT THE ARTIST |
Ludmila Prochazka is an international ceramic sculptor who’s work can be found in
many countries around the world including Canada, United States, Czech Republic,
Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Australia. Her charming and authentic reliefs are
hand sculpted in clay, then glazed and fired in the kiln. She then assembles them into
wall size reliefs, transforming her environment into a breathtaking scenary. She defines
her artwork through two and three dimentional forms that meet between the ancient and
modern world of art. Using the elemental material terracotta which has the ability to
imitate many natural forms, Ludmila explores the relationship of earth, weight, surface,
texture and form. It is this imitation process that remains symbolic in her artwork through
the creative process of her memory and reality. Her innovative style combines both
traditional and contemporary techniques making her art a unique sensation.
Ludmila was born and raised in Olomouc, Czech Republic. She completed her art
education and established herself as a professional artist in the Czech Republic. She has
lived and worked in Canada for nearly twenty years, exhibiting and selling her artwork
in Canada and the United States. She now resides in the Czech Republic and continues
to live and produce her work together with her husband Dusan, her art agent and business
partner. Ludmila’s past and present environment determines the natural progression of
her work as a czech-canadian artist.
